StrimQA online course: Fundamentals of testing

At StrimQa we make an interesting decision to have better understanding of what people require to get QA profession acquired via self learning, we decided to run own, the most cost-effective QA classes on the market. On this page we will collect feedbacks from our best students. This is our HALL OF FAME page and we are proud to have so many people there already! =) These guys helped a lot to make our project successful, they provided us with early feedbacks, found many issues and confirmed the fixes. Since one of StrimQa founders Egor Pavlovets has great experience in growing QA engineers from interns, StrimQa decided to develop own QA learning program for further implementation of this program in the app.

  • 1. Welcome module (1 month)
  • Introduction, getting all the communication pipelines and spaces established (Slack, Trello, Telegram, StrimQA etc)
  • Learning important pro QA habits: Put everything into the notes, Knowledge sharing, Step into Unknown, Conflictless communication, Understand developers — find a way how to help them.
  • Agile manifesto, values of Agile teams, Shift-left in testing
  • Intro into Scrum, tasks estimation, starting first ISTQB chapter
  • Principles of Testing, what do they mean and how can you apply them at work?
  • Practice: tasks creation, tasks rotation on the scrum board, tasks management, understanding StrimQa learning process, two-way traceability
  • 2. Understanding Test Process (1 month)
  • Learning and discussing 2nd ISTQB Chapter
  • Learning and discussing 3rd ISTQB Chapter
  • Scrum Sprint progress review and Retrospective meeting exercises
  • Practice:create a well-defined and well-documented bug, bug review process, working with the “Confirmation bias”, Control questionnaire for chapters 1, 2, 3.
  • 3. Managing Test Process (1 month)
  • Learning and discussing 4th ISTQB Chapter
  • Learning and discussing 5th ISTQB Chapter
  • Learning and discussing 6th ISTQB Chapter
  • Establishing JIRA process with the Scrum board
  • Practice: test-design based on the black-box and experienced-based techniques, white-box testing master class, creating different types of test cases, choosing equivalence partitioning classes, boundaries for analysis. Decision table for testers.
  • Practice and Diploma month (1 month)
  • Control questionnaire for chapters 4, 5, 6.
  • Creating all the stories in backlog for the month, estimating them, electing team leads for the sub-groups to enforce JIRA Scrum process in the sub-groups, daily Scrum updates, starting Diploma project
  • For the Diploma project:
  • Creating user stories
  • Creating Test Plan
  • Creating Test Strategy
  • Creating Test Schedule
  • Creating Test Cases
  • Creating Test reports per App version
  • Creating Summary Test Report
  • Creating Traceability Matrix
  • Executing all the created test documentation against the test app (3 versions), collecting the results, organizing the results, making assessments, filling traceability matrix
  • Defending Diploma work, getting course certificate, personal accreditation page on the StrimQa web-site, digital achievement in the StrimQa app
  • 5. Practicing the following instruments during the course:
  • Communication: Slack, Telegram, Business communication
  • Testing and debugging: Android SDK tools, Web Developer Tools, Postman
